Artist's Comments

I got some critiques that the bathroom scene was too clean, too perfect, and even “sterile.” So I made it dirtier.

Much dirtier.

I kept the same angle and lighting as my original, but redid all the texturing and added a grip of plants using both Thomas Luft’s Ivy Generator and some Maya Paint Effects.

Haha, I definitely like this one best!
Actually, the reason I liked the nighttime one better IS because the the first one felt too clean and white,
But now you're just outrageous :D

Wow, it turned out really great! I like how the round window takes on a sort of "moon" quality. Especially in the thumbnail. The scattered tiles in the foreground are also especially effective. Did you place those by hand? The moss on the glass bricks is great too... nicely done!

Thank you! Originally the floor was just a single polygon square with the tile texture applied. In order to break up the tiles I subdivided the square until the subdivisions matched the tile spacing.

Then I selected a group of tiles, separated them from the main piece, then separated them into individual tiles, extruded them to give them depth, and finally ran a hard body simulation on them with the remaining floor set as a collision object so that they would fall randomly about.

THE most inspiring piece of 3d that I've seen in a long time. Totally against the grain, when you think of how many pristine, architectural renders are pumped out everyday. This one turns them all face down, ass up. Great Job!

Wow! And I thought the other versions were good.

I'm sometimes am afraid of my bathroom (or, more usually, kitchen) looking like this when I get up in the morning. Thanks for reminding me ;)

Lol, that's awesome, I love the little mushrooms growing on the floor. This is giving me an underwater feel for some reason.
